Alpinistas places a high value on encouraging women and girls to pursue and succeed in outdoor activities. We believe in the importance of educating our fellow sisters and fostering community-centered behavior for both the beginner and expert outdoor woman. We also embody being a proper steward to Mother Nature as a whole.
To support these values, we engage in a number of programs.
Alpinistas gives back over 1% of sales to support women's outdoor programs through the following channels:
Our Time: We volunteer our time through local Meetups to welcome newcomers to explore the Reno-Tahoe region as well as other programming.
Our Sales: Alpinistas will allocate a percentage of annual sales to fund the Together We Move scholarship that empowers young women to explore outdoor sports by sponsoring their participation in an outdoor education program. Each year we will award a scholarship to someone that aligns with our values and ideals to help make outdoor dreams a reality. Scholarships may be awared to multiple people over multiple sport disciplines.
Our Affiliates: We provide support to The Alpinistas Collective. The Alpinistas Collective provides outdoor education, coaching programs, gear rental, trips & retreats to further women's access in the outdoors.
Outdoor Stewardship: Alpinistas participates in charitable and good citizenship programs through out the year. See below for more.
Alpinistas Ambassadors: The Alpinistas Ambassador program seeks to include & promote women from across the country that represent our values.
Community Programs
In 2023, Alpinistas kicked off their first annual community Holiday Gift Drive. Alpinistas collected household essentials and children's gifts to donate to the Women and Children's Center of the Sierra.
Alpinistas is looking forward to continuing this service each year.
In June of 2022, Alpinistas hosted a backpacking giveaway in partnership with Jetboil, Deuter, Eureka and more.
This giveaway was specifically to support someone in need. Entrants nominated a person that they knew to be entered into a chance to win a backpacking starter set.
On October 9, 2021 (rescheduled from September, 11, 2021 due to fires), Alpinistas hosted the only Reno-Tahoe Climbing for Heroes hike. This hike raises money, awareness and support for disabled veterans programs by The Heroes Project.
